Brockwell Park Community Greenhouses

This map is designed to guide you around the trees that grow in the community garden. The layers icon in the right hand corner of the map enable you to explore differenct aspects of tree cover.

The Orchard was planted in the early 2000's with 22 fruit trees on the original plan. Of those 12 have survived and are flourishing. Since then a number of trees have been planted as infill and replacement of trees that didn't survive. These include a number of apples and pear trees as well as a walnut tree at the end of the orchard which replaced a plum tree.

The Google satellite images are downloaded from Google Earth 'history', with one being acquired in 2006, when the Gardens were in the very early stages of devolpment and the other being acquired last year. The two shots not only show the changes in the layout of the garden over the last 15 years but also highlight the difference in season. The shot taken in 2006 was in winter with virtually no canopy cover in stark contrast to the 2021 image taken in July. The change in canopy cover of the \ large sycamore is a particularly good example of the seaonal difference between Summer and winter.
